London hotel rates reached their highest ever in June with the cost of a one-night stay averaging at more than £200, as travel demands gain momentum.

Preliminary figures from hotel data specialist STR reveal the average daily rate (ADR) for properties in the capital reached £209 – the highest ever on record for London. The city’s revenue per available room also skyrocketed to £173.60 as occupancy climbed to 83.1% from 7.3% in July 2019.

It’s clear the leisure market is leading the recovery in travel; however, tourism could be hit in the coming months due to Heathrow Airport’s decision to impose a two-month cap on daily passenger traffic.
