One-click sustainable travel with The Lufthansa Group

European aviation giant The Lufthansa Group is the world’s first airline group to offer a new product for climate-friendly flying.

Building on its impressive portfolio of sustainable travel offers, the group’s “Green Fares” will launch on February 15 2023, making it possible to fly more sustainably with just one click.

After successfully testing the initiative in the Scandinavian market last year, the new fares will be offered by Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, SWISS, and others on more than 730,000 flights per year throughout Europe and North Africa.

The fares include “full compensation” for carbon emissions within the ticket price and will use a combination of 20% Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), alongside contributions to climate protection projects, covering the remaining 80%.

Member of The Lufthansa Group’s Executive Board responsible for Brand and Sustainability, Christina Foerster says: “People don’t just want to fly and discover the world - they also want to protect it at the same time. We support our guests in this with sustainable products. We already offer the most comprehensive portfolio for more sustainable travel and are now expanding this further with the Green Fares. The product launch is an important building block in our efforts to make air travel more climate-friendly.”

Travellers can use Green Fares for economy and business class, which are available to book via the airlines’ NDC-based booking platforms.
