Virgin Atlantic Joins SkyTeam

In a significant move that promises to expand travel options and benefits for flyers, Virgin Atlantic has announced its entry into the SkyTeam alliance, effective from 02 March 23.

With the addition of Virgin Atlantic - the group’s first and only UK-based carrier - the SkyTeam network will comprise 20 world-class airlines offering seamless connections and enhanced travel experiences across more than 1,000 destinations worldwide.

Virgin Atlantic customers can now enjoy the perks of SkyTeam's frequent flyer program, including access to more than 750 exclusive airport lounges, priority boarding, extra baggage allowance, and the ability to earn and redeem miles across all member airlines. Likewise, existing SkyTeam members will benefit from Virgin Atlantic's extensive transatlantic route network and innovative services. The collaboration aims to create a more cohesive and enjoyable travel experience for passengers of all member airlines.

Virgin Atlantic CEO, Shai Weiss, said the development marks “an important milestone” in improving the carrier's loyalty position: “We want to reward those who choose to fly with Virgin Atlantic and our Flying Club members deserve the very best loyalty proposition. Our SkyTeam membership offers this through a global network of maximised reward opportunities, alongside enhanced services on the ground and in the skies.”

SkyTeam CEO Patrick Roux Colvile said: “We are delighted to welcome Virgin Atlantic into the SkyTeam, taking an already close relationship to new heights and elevating our customer offering with more routes to exciting destinations and access to aspirational airport lounges - not to mention the airlines world-famous flair.”
