American Airlines and British Airways have released their shiny new co-location facilities at New York’s J F. Kennedy International Airport.
Relocating from Terminal 7 to Terminal 8, the airport will welcome customers to the new location from December 1. This marks the completion of the first phase of the, approximately, $400 million redevelopment and expansion project of the airport – which covers 130,000 square feet of additional space and includes a new check-in area, three world-class passenger lounges, five new widebody gates, four new widebody parking positions, plus an upgraded baggage handling system.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul said: “The completion of Terminal 8 is a milestone in our historic efforts to build a new JFK worthy of New York.”
She continues: “I congratulate American Airlines, British Airways and the Port Authority for the first of what will be many milestones to come. We will continue our close partnerships as we transform JFK into a magnificent global gateway that will help to keep New York at the center of the world stage.”
Upon arrival at the airport, premium customers on both American and BA flights will be greeted at the new co-branded premium check-in area with “concierge-style services” and can explore the three lounges - all of which will be available for eligible passengers based on the cabin of travel and loyalty programme status.
Iberia joined BA in moving into Terminal 8 on December 1, with plans for Japan Airlines to follow suit in Spring 2023.
